How To Grab Your Substack Metrics to Excel With One Click?
I created a tool to grab your engagement data from Substack.com
I love working with data and building new tools for writers and creators.
Many Finn’sights subscribers have already used my free tools to review their data and gain insights into improving their work.
Substack posts statistics
Substack provides a wealth of data for each post, but I haven’t found an easy way to download this data for further analysis.
I spent Saturday afternoon creating a new Chrome Browser extension to do just that. You can now grab this tool and export your Substack posts and their related statistics into Excel.
You get all your posts neatly organized with respective statistics.
Let me know how I can improve this new tool. I want you to know that all feedback is welcome.
Analyzing data
With the data in Excel (or Google Sheets), I can now review my metrics, such as open rate. I’ve been posting on Substack only since mid-August, and my open rate is hovering between 30% and 50%.
I'm checking my CTR (click-through rate) and engagement rate for each post. Here is a view of that:
These views help me understand what kind of stories my subscribers like to read and engage with.
Final thoughts
I love data-driven analysis to find new insights into how to help writers and creators in their challenging work.
As an engineer, I find joy in solving problems like how Substack APIs work and how to grab the data to provide alternative views to gain more insights.
I would love to hear your thoughts and the challenges you are facing. Perhaps we could work together and help fellow creators along the way?
