Finn! I am so pumped to get this automation up and running to save me time and help me pace my notes! Good word, bro! Good job on the guide too. It sucks to get a great product and have to try and figure it out!

This tool has made Substack Notes so much easier (and fun!) to manage. And Finn—special thanks for the fantastic user guide. Clear, practical, and full of tips that made me feel confident right from the start. You didn’t just build a tool, you built a real support system for creators.

Wow, thank you so much for saying this! 🙏

I’m thrilled to hear the tool (and guide!) made Notes easier and fun—that’s precisely what I was hoping for.

My goal has always been to give creators more confidence and less friction, so knowing it feels like a real support system means a lot.

Appreciate you being part of this journey!

Hi Finn,

I'm new to substack and just started playing around with substack pro studio and substack control centre. I had toyed with purchasing the substack pro studio with the custom GPT in it, but thought I needed to be invited. Will there be an opportunity to upgrade to that version?

I think these are great tools and I can't want to get into playing with them more.

Hey Jenn,

The bundle product (https://finntropy.gumroad.com/l/creativetech_substack_pro_studio) includes Yana's custom GPT and Substack Pro Studio as standalone products, along with access to a custom GPT version 3 that is normally available as an "invite-only" product for Yana's subscribers. You can use either the custom GPT or your regular ChatGPT with this product version. There is an option to switch between these two modes.

Suppose you already have the Substack Pro Studio product (https://finntropy.gumroad.com/l/substack_pro_studio). In that case, there is no upgrade path available to custom GPT, unless you subscribe to Yana's newsletter, which has a special offer in September 2025 only for her subscribers.

This is excellent! Thank you so much. I purchased the CreativeTech Substack Pro Studio (GPT Bundle) - where can I get the GPT ?

Thanks

Hi Eva,

The GPT comes with the bundle. Open the AI Assistant view, and you'll find a "Open Custom GPT" button that grants you access.

Finn: the tool is awesome. Well done, and I've recommended it to several substackers. Quick question: does it support scheduling notes with video? I see how to attach images, but don't see a way to attach video clips. If not, and if that's possible in a future version, it would be great. As Substack pushes more livestreaming, I'm generating a lot of clips that I would love to schedule as part of my notes post.

Hi Matt,

Thanks so much for the kind words and for recommending the tool to others! That really means a lot. 🙏

Currently, scheduling supports text and images, but not video clips. Substack itself is still a bit limited with how videos can be embedded in Notes, which is why you’re not seeing that option yet. That said, you’re absolutely right - with livestreaming and clips becoming bigger on Substack, video scheduling would be a really useful feature.

I’ll keep this on the roadmap and see what’s possible to add in a future version. In the meantime, if you have a specific use case (e.g., short clips, teaser previews, etc.), I’d love to hear it - that’ll help me shape the implementation when Substack expands the video side.

Thanks again for the feedback - you’re helping make the tool better for everyone. 🚀

Absolutely, here are my top 3 use cases for video clips in order of priority (not necessarily all for pre-scheduling, but I'll list them just for your situational awareness):

1) I host a weekly livestream. Substack auto-generates 4 clips. I like to then post them on Notes with short 2-3 lines of text discussion and a link to the full livestream recording. It's great to be able to space those out over a day or so.

2) I'm interested in doing more hybrid text/video substack articles. So the ability to schedule a video clip that promotes the larger article post is intriguing.

3) I've also received a number of suggestions to create short video commentaries. This would obviously be mostly from my phone, so not clear that it would be a good candidate for scheduling in advance, but perhaps there's something useful to you in that.

I'm glad I found this article before I wasted my time because I can see that I would need to be a genius to be publishing anything here. It increases my respect for those writers who are intelligent enough to navigate through this cyber maze. The 'Notes' feature is so difficult to access and use it's discouraging. I've been unable to find a Notes tab using my pc on the website or in my phone app. I stopped commenting on notes because I can't find any comments I've made to a Note to see if my comment even posted. I can't even find notes from people I've subscribed to after I read their notifications so it's a one shot deal for me. I've read comments from countless others who are having the same problems so I'm not the only dumbass who can't figure it out.

In my case, I can see the settings in this URL "https://finntropy.substack.com/publish/settings " -

Have you tried " https://forcefedfuture.substack.com/publish/settings " URL - if you scroll down, you should see Notes / Enable notes tab above the welcome page

Jim Trafficone's avatar

Thanks for trying to help, Finn. Using my PC to access the URL for my account there is no 'Notes / Enable' notes tab above the Welcome Page on that webpage, only 'Publication Theme.' I don't use the app on my phone any more than I have to because I'm much faster navigating a webpage on a keyboard and touch pad than on a touch screen.

Yes, I can post my own notes and access my notes but that's all. There are no other 'notes' options available.

What other "notes" option were you looking for?

I can't ever find any comments I or anyone else has made to publishers notes. From what I've read there are many others who are also unable to find their comments and have stopped commenting as a result. I'm able to view publishers previous notes by clicking on their Substack page but no comments are visible. One of the best features of Substack is to read others' comments on posts. The dialogue creates a sense of community. Why can't we do the same for notes?

Hey Finn

Thanks for this guide. Could you please create a PDF of this so that I can work with it side by side as I get to know the program and can continue to refer to it?

Also is it possible for you to do a video which describes all these processes and tabs for people who are getting started, or not tech savvy like me?

A video guide explaining it all would be very helpful.

Hey Jeanette,

I sent you a PDF version of the Substack Pro Studio User Guide via email.

On the video request, have you looked at this 5-minute video tutorial https://substack.com/@finntropy/note/c-145692693

It walks you through how to use Analytics, AI Assistant, Kanban, and Schedule tabs, allowing you to create 24 Notes in 5 minutes, all scheduled.

PS. Thank you so much for your review on Gumroad!

That’s really encouraging to hear. I sometimes drift into techie-speak without realizing it, so I’m glad the guide came across as clear and easy to follow.

I’m always looking for ways to make it even more useful, so your feedback is super helpful.

Excited to hear how your experiments go!

I'm confused Finn, today was supposed to be the launch date but where is this available and how much is it and I guess I'm a little confused between the two or three products is there any way you could create a chart showing what features are in each one and what costs are in each one? Right now this just seems overwhelming to me but I would love to be able to have some of the features you talk about. Perhaps I just need some more patience. What a great job you've done. Bravo. The official launch day was on Aug 29th. As explained in this article, after the launch, the Substack Pro Studio is generally available on my Gumroad store (link is https://finntropy.gumroad.com/l/substack_pro_studio). You can see that 85 people have already gone through the purchase process within the first 36 hours!

I have a comparison table on the Gumroad store home page if you are wondering which product is best for your use cases (Notes Scheduler vs. Substack Pro Studio - see https://finntropy.gumroad.com/).

The price of each product is on the respective Gumroad product page.

I have also created a collaboration product with Yana for her Unplugged newsletter subscribers, which includes Substack Pro Studio and Yana's excellent CREATIVETECH Notes Writer custom GPT (see https://finntropy.gumroad.com/l/creativetech_substack_pro_studio). This product is an invite-only for her subscribers. She sent the email last night, so if you are an Unplugged subscriber, you should have received it by now.

I hope this helps clarify what is currently available. I'm actively supporting hundreds of creators and trying to find time to create new products that help writers to find their audience and grow their newsletters.
