Can you add images to it?

Denise Wakeman's avatar

Saving so I can get back to it after the holidays and back at my desk. Can't wait to try as I've been missing a scheduler, exactly as you described.

Finn Tropy's avatar

I hope you like it - as much as Kathleen, who left this awesome feedback: https://substack.com/@finntropy/note/c-79464409

Denise it is a life saver and game changer for sure 💯

Hey Finn thankyou for this insight. I'm sure this will be of much use to many

Finn Tropy's avatar

Thank you, Maurice! I hope people find this is a helpful tool.

Well Finn, Just shown this piece to a writer friend as an example of how the community comes together on Substack. Nice one Bro !!

Finn Tropy's avatar

That's precisely why I love this community. People are helping each other, and each of us is bringing something unique to the Substack community.

Kathleen Thorne RN, LMT's avatar

It will make my life and notes a lot easier especially during times with family illnesses or hospitalizations etc. So glad Finn did this. I tried earlier today and it worked!

Maurice Clive Bisby's avatar

Yes, this was something I wanted to look into for 2025 Overall Scheduling. That Finn has beaten me too it is a big bonus !!

Kathleen Thorne RN, LMT's avatar

A huge bonus!

Thanks. Do you have the same for LinkedIn? And how to leverage your LinkedIn readers to Substack?

Finn Tropy's avatar

I don't have anything for LinkedIn. My focus is 100% on Substack and Gumroad.

I have another, much improved product called Substack Pro Studio - see the User Guide https://finntropy.substack.com/p/substack-pro-studio-user-guide

There are plenty of other solutions for scheduling LinkedIn posts, such as Taplio and Buffer.

Dr. Fethi Chebil's avatar

Thank you. Really valuable advice. I’ll try a few ideas. I’ll connect in case I need specific help. Thank you again.

Finn Tropy's avatar

Happy to help. You might want to research newsletters with an adjacent audience. There are quite a few focused on investing and market analysis, financial news, etc.

Perhaps engaging with those creators' posts with your aviation industry perspective might bring more attention to your newsletter?

Dr. Fethi Chebil's avatar

I am new in Substack. I don’t have enough data to better understand my readers. Furthermore, am a niche product. My readers are sophisticated. My idea is to start from LinkedIn where I have a substantial base. I don’t know how to bridge.

Finn Tropy's avatar

Have you analyzed your LinkedIn audience data? You have over 8.8K followers there; perhaps you could extract some profiles and use Claude AI to summarize and segment your readers?

I have used the Playwright MCP tool ( It is a Microsoft Chrome extension) with the Claude desktop app to create some sample datasets. You could start by sampling 100 top contacts who have engaged on LinkedIn and see if that makes sense.

Once you have a good understanding of your audience and their problems, you can start offering content and solutions on Substack.

I started on Substack in the summer of 2024 (came from writing on Medium for 18 months) and analyzed my audience and content using these methods:

1) https://finntropy.substack.com/p/how-to-learn-who-your-audience-is

2) https://finntropy.substack.com/p/the-investors-playbook-for-writers

I applied these lessons, and in 10 months, grew to 739 subscribers and $8K revenue while working 4 hours per week on my Substack, see this post:

3) https://finntropy.substack.com/p/how-i-turned-my-substack-posts-into

So, with your 8.8K LinkedIn followers, could you do something similar, perhaps?

This one tool has been the turning point of my success on Substack.

There is NO WAY I could post multiple times a day without this.

Thank you!

Brinley Winters's avatar

What happens if my browser tab is open to the notes page but my computer is closed/asleep?

Finn Tropy's avatar

Hey Brinley, if your computer is closed or asleep, it won't be posting notes.

What usually happens is that when you open your laptop, the scheduled Notes will get posted as soon as the Chrome background process is running and alarms trigger.

However, I've talked to hundreds of users, and there are always exceptions: some posts may fail because the network connection is unavailable or the web session with Substack is terminated.

In the Substack Pro Studio product, I have improved error recovery: you can drag failed posts back to the scheduled column in the Kanban view, and they will be sent in the next available timeslot.

The User Guide has more details - see here https://finntropy.substack.com/p/substack-pro-studio-user-guide

John Gauntner's avatar

It seems to me that we have to leave the Substack Notes page open and leave the PC on, but also turn off any screen savers or power saving functions, because if the pc goes into sleep mode or something like that, and is asleep when the posting time comes around, the note will not be posted. Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

Finn Tropy's avatar

Hi John, this is correct.

Substack's Terms of Service (https://substack.com/tos) do not permit sharing your account password; therefore, Notes Scheduler must use YOUR browser and YOUR credentials, running on YOUR computer.

This is why you need to leave your browser running and prevent your computer from going to sleep.

John Gauntner's avatar

Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate that!

Juliano Lanni's avatar

Hey Finn, loving the app so far. Quick question: the notes don't seem to post when my laptop is 'sleeping'. Is there something I am missing to have the note post even when I am away?

Finn Tropy's avatar

Hi Juliano, the Notes Scheduler depends on the Chrome browser running and your computer staying on to work correctly. This is stated in the product description, User Guide and documentation.

Substack terms and conditions prevent any system that would require you to disclose your credentials, so no external servers or services cannot be used for sending Notes. Therefore it must be your computer, and your browser to handle the posting in the background.

If you shutdown the browser or close your computer, Scheduler won't work. In the Gumroad product page there are instructions how to disable sleep mode on MacOS and Windows computers.

Thank goodness thank you!

Paul Iusztin's avatar

Hi Finn! Can you add images or videos to it? Can it be synced on other devices?

Finn Tropy's avatar

Image attachments work, but videos not.

Paul Iusztin's avatar

Thank you for the fast reply! Can the tool be synced on another computer as well?

Finn Tropy's avatar

I did implement an integration with Google Sheets, but the configuration is a bit complicated, so only a small subset of users have adopted this method, see

https://finntropy.substack.com/p/substack-scheduled-notes-with-google

Paul Iusztin's avatar

Does this also support image attachments?

Finn Tropy's avatar

No, Google Sheets integration doesn't support image attachments—just text for now.

Jessica Friday's avatar

Hiya! My 1.3.1 version isn't working. Do I need to rebuy the extension every time there's an update? Thanks!

Finn Tropy's avatar

Hey, you can download the latest version from the Gumroad email than the original—no need to repurchase it. Send me a DM if you want me to resend the Gumroad receipt email.

Pamela Hilliard Owens's avatar

Hi Finn: PLEASE HELP! I bought this extension back in January (I think). I used it a couple of times, and it worked great.

However, I fell behind, and I'm ready to use it again, but I can't find the extension!

My email is pamela@pamelahilliardowens.com.

Could you help OR give me a 100% discount code so that I can use it again?

Please let me know.

Thanks so much!

Finn Tropy's avatar

Hey Pamela, I just resent the Gumroad receipt email that has the download link. Let me know if you can't find it.

Pamela Hilliard Owens's avatar

Found it and re-installed it! I also saved the link and the instructions in my Apple Notes in case this happens again.

Thanks so much for the excellent Notes Scheduler App! It works like a charm.

Finn Tropy's avatar

Thanks Pamela!

Rodney Daut's avatar

I just bought this product, and I'm scheduling a bunch of notes. This is fun :)

Finn Tropy's avatar

Thanks Rodney, I love this kind of feedback.

Rodney Daut's avatar

Btw does it work if my laptop is off or asleep?

Finn Tropy's avatar

No, you need to keep your laptop running, and Chrome browser open.

Tommy Thompson's avatar

Hey Finn,

I have downloaded the extension and set up my first scheduled post. It shows as Scheduled but has not posted. Any thoughts? I posted at 9:15am for a 9:20AM delivery.

Finn Tropy's avatar

Hey Tommy, I will send you a DM so that we can troubleshoot the issue.

Danusia Malina-Derben's avatar

Hi Finn, I’ve bought the Notes Scheduler. 🙏🏻 what do you suggest users do if they have two substacks? I’m guessing we can’t toggle between submitted urls?

Help on this much appreciated!

Finn Tropy's avatar

Hey Danusia, you can run another instance of the Notes Scheduler on Brave browser and configure that one for the other Substack newsletter. Brave browser is using Chrome engine and is compatible with the Notes Scheduler.

Elizabeth H. Cottrell's avatar

Finn, I've just purchased and installed the app and am already liking it. Is the hourly time I choose for a scheduled post my own time or some other time?

Finn Tropy's avatar

It is on your own time by default.

Changing your computer timezone settings is possible, like if you travel with a laptop to another country. Browser timezone can also be changed for testing, but that requires using Developer tools.
